i now teach two classes ,one beginner and one intermediate guitar class at treasure mountain middle school.
satrting april 22nd i will also teach the same two classes at parleys park elementary but as an afterschool class for ages 15 and up

i now work for the music school in american fork on a minimal basis but they do offer online guitar lessons that would be great for my out of state fans

i have left the school of rock but you can still go there to learn to be a wannabe rock star from teachers that never were nor ever will be

practicing modes....to do so properly,without backing tracks, yu should learn all five scale positions of course , if you haven't don''t finish this lesson till you do, also your harmonized chord pattern
after these two must do'e, you should sart with chord 1 in any key, G is good because it starts open, you play the chord then the scale under it, then move to next chord in pattern and play the chord but then still play your original keys scale, this will give you somewhat an idea of the tonality of the modes, do all 7 chords in each key, this is hard work and time consuming but will make you better than average joe guitar player on every corners uncle.

what is this? first learn your circle of fifths and know which sharps and flats you have in each key and the chord pattern goes
major minor minor major dominant 7 minor diminished learn this in bar chord form first then branch out. this is the blue print for every song you have ever heard and it can be variated a lil but start here

HOW TO SHRED.........to shred there are a few must do's, play with a heavy pick, not a fender heavy, an actual heavy pick or plectrum, you must hold it with index and thumb and slant your picking hand at a 45 degree angletowards the left towards ground, then play all your scales up and down alternate picking always with no pull offs or hammer-ons, practice playing the scales this way for the rest of your life 6 hours a day and you will be a good shredder if you are not willing to do this, just play stupid boring notes like eric clapton, and slash have done for years, but remember if you cut down shredding and shredders, at least be able to do it, you should never do or not do a guitar technique because you can't, it should be because you choose not to, so practice or be slash

some of my students along with others are going to asbury park to play a festival and down to moab ut. also a couple are heading on tour all summer, lucky guys, i had to play for my girlfriend and a waitress many many nights but those days will come for you
